Components of CPU are explained below:
Arithmetic logic unit:
Arithmetic Logic Unit, usually called as ALU performs various arithmetic operations like addition; subtraction,
multiplication, division and logical operations like AND, OR, NAND etc
on that instruction.
Register Unit:
Computers have several storage locations called registers. These units appears in the control unit and ALU and make processing more efficient. Registers are a number of small, high speed memory units that hold data and instructions temporarily during processing. They are the part of the Control unit and ALU rather than the memory. Their content are therefore handled more faster than the content in the memory.
Control unit:
Control unit controls communication with ALU and MU; decides which
circuit is to be activated for reading instruction. It uses
fetch-execution mechanism. Control unit gets instruction from memory and
decides what to do with that instruction and transfer it to the ALU.
